It looks pretty good so far, but every time I try something on Betty, I rue the day I made that dressmaker dummy with those stupid little arms. They pull on the garment so that I never really know if the pulls are real or because of the arms. I have to wait for A to come back from the movie she went to so she can try it on. Anyhow, the fit is a lot better than it was, so maybe we will call the fitting done and go on to making an actual shirt.
The recent hot weather has cause the plants in the garden to grow like weeds, and the weeds are growing like weeds too. That big empty center section has baby beets in it and several self-seeded zinnias that are about to bloom. This last week I had to put up the golden plums which ripened several weeks early, and it looks like the apples will be ready soon, if not already ripe. Luckily, when the spouse was cleaning out his parents storage shed for them, they gave him one of those apple-peeler-corer machines, so we will have to give that a try.
Today is my daughter’s birthday. I find it hard to believe I have a well and truly adult daughter, let alone two of them. I feel like I just finished college but the years have just flown by. Well, enough nostalgia, back to the sewing machine!
