My daughter has been looking at more patterns, including some I had in a pile by the sewing machine, and these two have gone to the top of the list above the two she liked yesterday:
This one, Simplicity 3875, is very similar to McCall’s 5973, but M likes the lower neckline. View A is the current favorite, though she likes View C except for the sleeves. What she really wants is View A with the set-in sleeves, except she wants the sleeves a little longer.
I bought this pattern from the display rack so it has a different kind of pattern number, Simplicity 0614. M likes View C but wants me to draft a sleeve that is not so narrow and without the bottom poofy section. She really likes Duro-style dresses and has been asking me to make her one for a few years now.
Cookies for my dad’s birthday party! Last fall I took all the leftover Halloween candy bars (we had hardly any trick-or-treaters last year) and cut them up into chocolate-chip-sized pieces, then froze them. I used the chocolate chip cookie recipe on the Toll House bag but poured in the whole quart bag full of candy bar pieces. Aside from a tendency to glue themselves to the cookie sheets with melted caramel, they came out very nicely and were delicious.
