Apron Patterns

We went to the antique fair in a neighboring town this Saturday morning.  I really found a lot of nice vintage patterns, including this pattern for an apron.  I have been thinking about making some new aprons using retro designs, and liked this apron for the back design.

You can put it on over your head without messing with any crossed straps and it will not slip off your shoulders with the weight of the ruffles.  I like the other aprons, too, sort of mama-san aprons with lots of coverage for messy crafts.  I think this pattern must date from the late sixties or the seventies.

This mailorder pattern is almost a dress.  The lower picture shows how to put it on.  I also like the pansy embroidery design and may adapt it for a Mexican dress.

My sewing room is still sealed up, but the work on the windows is nearly complete.  It used to get so hot in those back rooms on hot days, but the new windows are cool to the touch even when it is in the nineties outside.  Science has marched on in window design in the last 40 years.  The contractor had very uncomplimentary things to say about the old windows, but hey, I’m not the one who chose them (previous owner put on the addition).  Now I will not have to wipe the condensation off of them every morning in the winter or check them for leakage every time it rains.
